Mark Twain Described the News Media Accurately 100 Years Ago
Some worthy quotations from
Mark Twain to frame this
topic:
- Never tell the truth to people who are not worthy
of it.
- If you don't read the newspaper, you're
uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you're misinformed.
- A half-truth is the most cowardly of lies.
Two more quotes:
- This author has his own amplification of the
second quote: "If you don't read the misinformed truth
then you will not be interested and entertained."
- From the movie "Anchor
Man 2", there is the remarkable quote "The
moment that news became 24-hours a day then it became entertainment".
An example of shaping the News to have the viewer come to the wrong
conclusion:

Anonymous Quote on Omission is Preferred Tool of the Leftist Media
The
Leftist have often been described as thinking and using methods that should
not be used as believing the method of doing
something that can be wrong, is permissible and morally justified when it
accomplishes the end goals.
The Leftist primarily, and others of different
political viewpoints, know the method of deception to be used in the public is
to omit information to make the listener come to a different desired conclusion. It is possible to tell the
truth but speak with deception by the omission of facts and information.
Note: It is this author's opinion and a partial reworded excerpt
from the Political Party
Allegiance Topic from analysis done in the year 2023:
- That no matter what is said publicly by a Politician in speeches
or seen in the Media concerning any person from any Political Party,
it is impossible for
Politicians to not eventually become corrupted willingly or
unwillingly. Choosing otherwise means the
Politician will be stopped during the election or re-election
process, by different entities in power. These power entities
collectively, while different from one-another and compete with one
another, are control everything, so that a Politician has to ally
themselves with one or more of them.
(a) A Politician has a choice to accept financial
compensation, outside of their salary, for doing actions for
specific power groups that are behind the scenes, or by not
accepting, the Politician becomes a target to be replaced.
(b) The higher the public office for the Politician, there are
vulnerabilities that will be exploited concerning any type of
unethical and immoral proclivity that can be used as part of a type
of political blackmail that is done in what is called a dossier.
J Edgar Hoover is best known in history for creating dossiers on
political enemies.
(c) At the worst level, there has been sporadic cases of Politicians
and assistants to Politicians, having their lives ended by
mysterious and sudden medical conditions that appear ordinary on the
surface, when previous medical checkups showed no signs.
- It has
become impossible for anyone of any Political Party to do anything
to stop the corruption that has taken over the positions of office
from the local to the federal level. One Political
Party, may appear to be more corrupt, from what is partially seen
and heard from the Media, but all Politicians serve different power
groups, where the power groups hold no political party allegiance,
as their goals are financial and power gains.
- Unfortunately, most of
the Media is also completely corrupted, with exception of
small independent sources, because the people in power behind the
scenes, learned multiple decades ago that by purchasing and
controlling the Media, then this allowed the process of
misinformation to shape people's opinions. The tools are using
half-truths, omissions, false wording, and outright deception.
(a) Do a search on
YouTube and there are numerous examples of TV Stations all repeating
the same scripted dialogues.
- In the year 2025, in the United States and perhaps other
countries, independent persons in social media as a minority are
making a difference in exposing corruption.

An American Highly Respected News Analyst Walter Cronkite Spoke about News Integrity
Walter Cronkite served as the head news host anchor for the American New
Television Station CBS from 1962 to 1981. He was famously known for his
integrity and honesty in reporting the full news story. His contributions
to a CBS 1976
document on how CBS was reporting the news contained:
"The objective of the editing process is to
produce a clear and succinct statement
which reflects fairly, honestly and without distortion"
News Media has Become a Marketing and Political Tool that is Purchased
It can be very easily shown that most News Media Outlets no longer deliver fair, honest
and without distortion reporting by:
- Opinions reflected from the News Anchor on Media Platform that claim to
be only reporting informational news.
- The apparent and deliberate absence of the full informational disclosure
from topics that have politics involved.
Controlling the information
presented to the public can influence how events are understood and may result
in audiences not having access to complete facts.
The objectives are
- To create emotional reactions to increase viewership and interest.
- To reflect the ownership's political views with favoritism, selective
and favorable interviews, and negativity on targeted areas.
(Perform an Internet Search on "video of TV news
reporting exactly the same thing every time".)
This is done very easily by reporting
news with omission to have listeners believe something that is not true.
The other tactic was also eloquently stated by
Joseph Goebbels:
"Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth."
Another well-known quote is by
Winston Churchill, that demonstrated the use of
lies in most likely too much in history:
"History is written by the victors."
